Hi, Folks, Ryosen here.  I thought I'd chime in and add a little info. A few friends have asked me if something was wrong or if Dawn and I had "broken up". The answer is no, we're just as in love which each other as we've always been.

For the past couple of weeks, we've been noticing that there was a problem with the game server using more CPU than usual. That was resulting in problems such as lag and disconnects. Unfortunately, we weren't able to determine what the exact cause was other than having isolated the source as the UT server application itself. The problems across the other systems immediately ceased when we should shut the UT game down.  Meanwhile, earlier in the week, we conducted some upgrades to our caching servers. It was during the testing of this upgrade that we started  to realize the full impact of the problem and the effect that it was having on our players and my clients.

For those of you that don't know, I own a software development company and Dawn's Deathmatch Palace has resided on one of our production application servers for some time now.  The server itself isn't tuned to be a gaming server - it serves a far different purpose - and so conditions for the game haven't been ideal. But, the price was right (free) and it came at a difficult time, so Dawn moved the game to my server. Lately, due to the problems that we were having, my clients started to complain and that was making things difficult. Since this is how I make my living, Dawn and I agreed that the best thing to do would be to move the game server to a new provider. I will continue to host and maintain the web site, as my small part to contribute to the health and longevity of this community.
